This is rediculous. I just got a brand new motherboard, CPU, RAM, video card, and power supply. The ONLY hardware that I kept is my three hard drives, my DVD-ROM, floppy drive (which I never use), and sound card (Soundblaster).

In addition to all of those replacements, AFTER the new hardware was installed, I reformatted my Windows partition and reinstalled Windows. The fucking computer is STILL rebooting (that was the problem I was having before). Oh, and in case you think the electrical wiring around here isn't stable, that doesn't matter because my computer is plugged into an APC. The only thing the new hardware seems to have changed, is that it reboots faster... it's completely random. I'll be viewing a webpage, or just leaving the computer alone, and it'll just reboot. Oh yeah, and I've ran virus scans with nothing coming up. What the fuck??

I got THREE of these the last time it rebooted: The system has recovered from a serious error.

I've had something similar happend to me.

Even when I bought a new comp, and threw the old harddisk in, it got fucked up.
I think your harddrives are posessed by the devil, or just broke.

I don't really want to lose all of the shit on my hard drives by doing a complete format... but, I really don't have many other choices, it seems. Though apparently it's a driver problem... but I can't think of any drivers that I haven't updated/etc. Bleh.

First off, you need to go into the minidump log file and find out exactly what is causing the crash (it will tell you at least a driver number).

You should understand that this error can also be caused because you didn't reformat yet you changed MB's. Each MB comes with it's own 4 in 1 and bridge drivers. If the system is still attempting a boot-up from your old drivers, it will cause this error.

Okay... well how do I view the log? It's just a bunch of jumbled ascii characters last I checked. Also, while I didn't reformat, I DID reformat the Windows partition and reinstalled Windows on the formatted partition. So is that still a problem?

Ehh... one BSOD stayed long enough for me to get a driver name -- NVTcp.sys. Googling that says that the nvidia firewall is shit... so I uninstalled that (the software came with the motherboard). Maybe my problems will cease now... hopefully? I doubt it.

So viewing the log and removing the driver fixed it?

I never got to view the log... a BSOD displayed long enough for me to see the driver file name and write it down, and then I googled it, found the issue with the firewall, and uninstalled it.

I'm an nvidia fan... and that's the motherboard chipset (nvidia nforce 4), BUT I have an ATI graphics card.

Actually, here's my current specs:

Power Supply (To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily.)

Processor (To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily.)

Motherboard (To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily.)

Graphics Card (To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily.)

And two 512MB DDR400 RAM sticks

That's everything I just replaced... I still have my "old" hard drives and DVD-ROM.

I will likely exchange the ATI graphics card for an NVIDIA card soon, though... to take advantage of the SLI.

I have yet to use a MB with integrated Video. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me for some reason. I have used MB's with integrated LAN and sound though.

The nForce 4 chipset is NOT video.

The NVIDIA nForce™4 MCP (media and communications processor) enhances your AMD Athlon 64 and Sempron-based system with powerful features like ”instant on” secure networking, an advanced storage solution that protects your valuable digital media assets, and PCI Express™, the industry’s latest bus architecture for graphics and expansion cards. With the NVIDIA nForce4 MCPs, you get an unbelievable advantage in maintaining and managing your complete desktop PC.

Basically, it's added motherboard circuitry. The motherboard does have onboard video... however, it's just a basic CRT monitor connection, that's it. No built in graphics technology. My LCD monitor won't plug into it.

I'm using the integrated LAN, and while it has integrated sound, I use a separate sound card (Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 channel card), so the onboard sound is disabled.

And so far, everything's working great:

This computer has been up for 6 Hours, 14 Minutes And 58 Seconds.

I am thinking it may be a redundant driver! Save what you can and hard format that bitch!

Yeah, but I want a graphics card anyway. But yes, I can use an adaptor.

It'll take awhile to backup my shit, but that's what I'm going to do eventually, though my computer's running perfectly now.

Yeah a format would be my suggestion. I mean I could tell you a bunch of things to try to fix it. But in the end I always find that a complete format will usually be the easiest option and the most likely to succeed.

My friend had the same problem as you speak of. It was her motherboard, so she replaced it a 3rd time, and the problem vanished.
